Presentation on Memorial Medical Center Expansion Available to Community Grups

3/27/2014

Community groups throughout Springfield and the greater Sangamon County area are invited to schedule a presentation about Memorial Medical Center’s historic expansion project. The presentation is available as a free community service.

In 2013, Memorial launched a $145 million project, titled Advancing Care by Design, to enhance patient safety, privacy, comfort and quality of care. The expansion also will improve access and comfort for family members and other hospital visitors. The project is expected to be complete in early 2016.

The 20-minute PowerPoint presentation features artist renderings and other illustrations associated with the key components of the Memorial expansion project. These include:

  • A three-floor patient care tower that will house 114 spacious private patient rooms enhanced with patient safety features and dedicated space for family and visitors of cardiac, orthopedic and intermedaite care patients;
  • Six new operating rooms and expansion of the hospital's surgical services, including a larger and more accomodating family waiting area and increased privacy and comfort for surgical patients before and after their procedures;
  • Renovation of the medical center's main entrance and lobby for easier, more convenient and safer access to the new surgical center and the hospital in general;
  • And construction of Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation, a new, four-story facility specifically designed for learning and professional development.

To schedule a member of the expansion project's leadership team to present to your group, submit an email request to webmaster@mhsil.com or call (217) 788-3333.
