Memorial Health System has opened a second drive-thru lab and respiratory testing site in Springfield.
The second facility is at 320 E. Carpenter St., which is at the intersection of Fourth and Carpenter streets. Patients can drive into the one of the three bays at the testing site and receive their tests in their vehicles while protected from the winter weather.
The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. The facility will be closed on Sundays. It opened Monday (Jan. 25).
Patients need a physician’s order to access drive-thru lab services or must be showing symptoms to be tested for COVID-19.
Last month, the health system opened an expanded version of its drive-thru lab and respiratory testing site at 2950 S. Sixth St. in Springfield. The three-bay expansion protects patients and healthcare workers from the winter weather and replaced the tents that had been at that location. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The South Sixth Street location is one of the sites of Memorial Physician Services’ ExpressCare, which had been closed while the respiratory clinic was in operation. That ExpressCare site reopened on Jan. 25, operating at the same time as the drive-thru lab and respiratory testing site. It will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
