TAYLORVILLE – Gina Watson, housekeeper in the Environmental Services department, is the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Colleague of the Month for February. Watson personifies Memorial Health System values in her work, keeping Taylorville Memorial Hospital clean and safe for patients and colleagues.
Watson started in her current role in June 2018, and she loves the encouragement she receives from leaders to keep expanding her areas of expertise.
“Gina does an outstanding job in her normal duties of cleaning and disinfecting the various spaces she is assigned to around the campus, and she is always seeking to learn more,” said Becky Morrow, Taylorville Memorial Hospital director of hospitality. “She has traveled to Springfield several times to train with floor care specialists at Memorial Medical Center so she can use those learned skills here at our hospital.”
Watson has trained in skills necessary for work in Taylorville Memorial Hospital’s Food and Nutrition department. She also recently underwent training to volunteer as a hospital entrance attendant.
Watson, of Kincaid, enjoys riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and fishing with her family, which includes her husband, two adult children and five grandchildren.
“I’m proud to work at Taylorville Memorial Hospital because of the many opportunities to learn skills within my department and outside of my department,” said Watson. “Our leaders give us opportunities to work in other areas and encourage us to learn as much as possible about our department’s work.”
