DECATUR – Genia Culp of Decatur, a registered nurse in Decatur Memorial Hospital’s Heart Center, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for August.

A nurse at Decatur Memorial Hospital since 2015, Culp said, “My patients are absolutely the reason I am a nurse. Working in the cardiopulmonary rehab department, I love the continuous socialization of this very hands-on program.”

Culp was nominated by a patient who noted Culp’s confident and knowledgeable approach to patient care and her compassionate demeanor.

Outside of work, Culp enjoys spending time with her family, which includes two sons, two daughters-in-law, three grandchildren and her husband – Culp’s high school sweetheart – to whom she has been married for 37 years.
