Robert “Bobby” Rigdon of Springfield, a cook in Springfield Memorial Hospital’s food and nutrition department, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for August.
Rigdon has worked at the hospital for more than 30 years. He is known for taking his role in patient care seriously, paying close attention to detail with each order he prepares and maintaining high quality standards, hospital officials said. In addition, Rigdon keeps an eye on the bottom line, never wasting product by neglecting expiration dates or preparing more food than is needed.
Rigdon said he continuously seeks opportunities to learn and invest in skills that will advance him toward a leadership role within his department. Outside of work, Rigdon enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, attending live music concerts and spending time with his family.
