Surgeon Joins Memorial Specialty Care

9/15/2022

Riley completed her residency in general surgery at University of Vermont Medical Center. She earned her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016. She received her bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Arizona State University in 2010.

Prior to her arrival in Decatur, Riley served as a clinical instructor and research fellow at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine. She has engaged in numerous teaching lectures and clinical supervisory and training roles.

“Growing up in a small town, the surgeon was a pillar in the community,” said Riley, who was raised in Sitka, Alaska. “I always wanted to do something that would have a positive effect on the community. Being a surgeon and a doctor, you not only help people by caring for them – sometimes saving their lives – but you’re also in a position to engage in the community in an important way.”

Outside of her practice, Riley is trained in ballet and enjoys tending her vegetable garden.
