Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital has been providing free blood pressure checks every Tuesday for many years, but last month one of the hospital’s regular customers hit a milestone. Ruth Jurjevich of Lincoln celebrated her 100^th birthday on February 24. Monitoring her blood pressure is just one of the ways she takes care of herself. 

“I don’t eat any fried foods and I exercise everyday but Sunday,” said Jurjevich. “And I eat dark chocolate and nuts.”

Clearly her lifestyle choices have paid off. She did not need any medication until she was 85 years old and still drives herself. At 100 years of age, Jurjevich enjoys a full life. She especially enjoys reading and art books. And of course, for years Jurjevich has made weekly trips to ALMH for blood pressure screenings.

The blood pressure checks, conducted by ALMH volunteers, are free to the public and available on a walk-in basis at ALMH every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
