Memorial Holiday Fest: Tree Lighting


What: Kickoff events for Memorial Holiday Fest, culminating in the Tree Lighting.

When: Saturday, Nov. 26.

11 a.m. Performance by the Springfield Youth Performance Group (SYPG) and time with Santa Claus. (Old State Capitol)

11:45 a.m. Lighting of the one-of-a-kind light display featuring Santa and Lincoln.

Noon: Performances by the Illinois Youth Symphony Orchestra and the SYPG (Illinois State Museum)

4 p.m. Speeches from dignitaries, arrival of Santa Claus; tree lighting will follow at approximately 5:20 p.m. (Old State Capitol)

Where: Old State Capitol Plaza, 526 E. Adams St., Springfield and Illinois State Museum, 502 S. Spring St., Springfield.

Background: Memorial Holiday Fest, presented by the Springfield Memorial Foundation in partnership with Downtown Springfield, Inc., will feature a festive lineup of community events and family activities on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings between Nov. 26 and Dec. 21 in downtown Springfield.
