New Physician Clinics Scheduled to Open on Passavant Area Hospital Campus in June

4/17/2013

A new 70,700-square-foot medical office building on the Passavant Area Hospital campus will open to the public on June 3.

The two-story building is at 15 Founders Lane and connects to Passavant Area Hospital by an indoor walkway. It will be the home to Memorial Physician Services – Jacksonville and the Jacksonville offices of Springfield Clinic.

The two organizations will combine their respective medical practices – and more than 50 doctors, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants and affiliated ancillary services – into one convenient location.

A community open house is planned for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, and will begin with a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. Tours of the new facility will be offered, and visitors can register for a chance to win an iPad Mini. Refreshments will be served.

“Memorial Health System has been very pleased to join with Passavant Area Hospital and Springfield Clinic in the construction of this medical office building to serve the healthcare needs of Jacksonville and the greater Morgan County region,” said Ed Curtis, president and chief executive officer of Memorial Health System. “This project will provide greater access to healthcare services, which completely aligns with our mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.”

“As the number of Springfield Clinic physicians and services in the Jacksonville community has grown, so too has the need for a more convenient and accessible facility,” said Michael Pick, MD, specialist in rheumatology with Springfield Clinic and chairman of its board of directors. “Our collaboration with Passavant Area Hospital and Memorial Health System allows us to better serve patients and streamline operations, which is a win for everyone.”

“This is a welcome convenience and service to our patients and our community,” said Chester Wynn, president and chief executive officer of Passavant Area Hospital. “We are pleased to partner with Memorial Health System and the Springfield Clinic on this project.”

The Memorial Physician Services offices and physicians that will now operate in this new structure include Jacksonville Family Medical Associates, Jacksonville Family Practice, Jacksonville Pediatric Associates, Dr. David Coultas, Dr. Benjamin Montgomery and Dr. Michelle Colen. The clinics and physicians will share the same new name, Memorial Physician Services – Jacksonville, after they relocate to the new building. Imaging and laboratory services for their patients will also be available.

Several of Springfield Clinic’s Jacksonville offices and services will also be consolidated into this location, including the area’s orthopedic and general surgery specialists as well as the primary care physicians presently practicing at Springfield Clinic Jacksonville Family Health Care.

Additionally, as part of Springfield Clinic’s Outreach Specialty Services program, physicians from other specialties will provide care in this location, including asthma, allergy and immunology, audiology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology and podiatry.

Imaging, laboratory and full-time audiology services for Springfield Clinic patients will also be available. Springfield Clinic’s presence in this new medical office building will be collectively known as Springfield Clinic Jacksonville.
