Passavant-Gatorade 5K/10K Presents Proceeds to Jacksonville Saints Special Olympics Team

Kevin Eckhoff, Communications Coordinator and Race Director of the Passavant-Gatorade 5K/10K, center, presents a check for $3,000 to Jacksonville Saints Special Olympics team members, Crystal Jackson, left, and Jesse Mattern. The check represents proceeds from this year’s 25th Annual Passavant-Gatorade 5K and 10K. Jackson and Mattern both participated in the May 27 event. Also present for the check presentation was Harry Schmidt, left, Passavant president and chief executive officer, and Richard Larkin, community living services director for Pathway Services Unlimited, Inc.

The Jacksonville Saints Special Olympics program provides competition in several different sports to over 100 Special Olympics athletes from Jacksonville and the surrounding area. Sports offered include: athletics, basketball, bowling, flag football, soccer, softball and volleyball.

The Passavant-Gatorade 5K/10K is the longest consecutive running event in Jacksonville.
