Marshall Hale, MD, a family medicine physician affiliated with Memorial Physician Services (MPS)-Jacksonville, is Passavant Area Hospital’s new chief medical officer (CMO).
Dr. Hale, a member of the Passavant Medical Staff since 1983, also serves as medical director of MPS-Jacksonville and as president of the Physician’s Health Association of Illinois. In addition, Dr. Hale has been a member of the board of directors for both Memorial Health System and Passavant Area Hospital.
Dr. Hale completed his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry at University of Illinois in Champaign and received his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He completed his residency in family practice at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
Dr. Hale assumes his new role September 1. He replaces Charles Sheaff, MD, who is stepping down as chief medical officer to pursue family, travel and other personal interests. Dr. Sheaff will continue as medical director of Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.
“I want to thank Dr. Sheaff for his service as CMO and his commitment to improving the health of the people and communities we serve,” said Harry Schmidt, president and chief executive officer.
The CMO is responsible for the administrative and clinical leadership of the medical staff at Passavant. In addition, the CMO works with the physicians and the administrative/clerical staffs at Passavant and affiliate organizations to streamline operating systems, create efficiencies, reduce costs and eliminate barriers in order to maximize positive patient outcomes.
