Memorial's Festival of Trees to Host Decorative Painting Event

10/9/2017

Memorial’s Festival of Trees will hold a decorative painting event on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Participants will decorate large sheets of metal, which they can display inside or outside their homes as ornaments. They can choose one of two exclusive designs, either a penguin or a replica of the Christmas tree in the official Festival of Trees logo.

"This is a great opportunity for a night out with friends," said Amanda Johnson, event manager for Memorial Medical Center Foundation, which organizes the Festival of Trees. "Plus, you get an early peek at the unique and beautiful designs created for this year's Festival of Trees."

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Painting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $65 and includes a meal and all painting materials. The event is a fundraiser for Memorial's Festival of Trees, which raises money for health-related projects and programs for Memorial Health System and the Springfield community.

Paint Night is held in collaboration with It's Scrapicated, a local business that offers make-and-take art sessions using metal shapes and paint.

Attendees must be at least 21 years old. A cash bar will be available. The bar closes at 8 p.m.

The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 3. To register online, visit MemorialsFestivalOfTrees.com and click on Paint Night.
