The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation recently received a generous donation from the Christian County Clover 4-H Club in support of the Emergency Department’s Comfort Closet.
Over 40 club members had collected their change to donate to the cause. As a result, longtime club leader Kathy Bates was able to present TMH Foundation with a check for $251.37. Club members were also able to make and donate four blankets that will be distributed to pediatric patients.
“I had the opportunity to speak with this wonderful group of kids and explain how the Comfort Closet helps children just like them,” said TMH emergency department manager Kristy Cesaretti. “We are so grateful for their generosity and support of the Comfort Closet.”
The Comfort Closet is an initiative started by the TMH emergency department to provide backpacks with comfort items to children who arrive in the ED, but will be unable to return home. These items include blankets, stuffed animals or toys, flashlights and books. They also collect coats and slippers for patients who arrive without those needed items.
The TMH Foundation continues to accept donations which are earmarked in support of the emergency department’s Comfort Closet. In addition to monetary donations, for information on specific items needed, please contact Kristy Cesaretti at 217-824-1315.
