Memorial's Festival of Trees to Host Decorative Painting Event

10/2/2018

Memorial’s Festival of Trees will hold a decorative painting event on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Participants will paint metal shapes, which they can display inside or outside their homes. They can choose one of three designs that are exclusive to the Festival of Trees: a snow globe, a penguin or a replica of the Christmas tree in the official Festival of Trees logo.

"This is a great opportunity for a night out with friends," said Amanda Johnson, event manager for Memorial Medical Center Foundation, which organizes the Festival of Trees. "Plus, you get an early peek at the unique and beautiful designs created for this year's Festival of Trees."

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $65 and includes a meal and paint supplies. Attendees must be at least 18 years old. A cash bar will be available. The bar closes at 8 p.m.

The registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 2. To register online, visit MemorialsFestivalOfTrees.com and click on Paint Night.

The event is a fundraiser for Memorial's Festival of Trees, which raises money for health-related projects and programs for Memorial Health System and the Springfield community.

Paint Night is held in collaboration with It's Scrapicated, a local business that offers make-and-take art sessions using metal shapes and paint.

The 29th annual Memorial’s Festival of Trees will be held Nov. 17-25 at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The festival’s hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 17, Nov. 19-21 and Nov. 23-24; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 18 and Nov. 25; and 4-8 p.m. Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving Day).
