Taylorville Memorial Hospital will host the Christian County Prevention Coalition’s Naloxone Training on Wednesday, November 28 at 6:30 pm in the Janice Hopper Auditorium.
Led by speakers Dennis and Chris Metsker of the Sharpe House and Penny Shehadeh, RN of Taylorville Memorial Hospital, attendees will learn about opioids and signs of withdrawal, the Good Samaritan Law and how to reduce overdose risk from opioids. Free naloxone kits will be available for each attendee.
“Opioid use is a serious concern here in Christian County,” said Shehadeh. “Our hope is this training will give members of the community the information and tools they need to help those who are addicted or overdose.”
This training is funded by a Drug Overdose Prevention Program grant from the State of Illinois. Attendees will need to call 217-824-1675 to RSVP no later than November 21 in order to receive the free kit at the training.
