Passavant Area Hospital is partnering with Memorial Behavioral Health to host a program later this month to train community members to learn how to identify and respond to youth showing signs of mental illness and substance abuse.
The program is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, in Meeting Rooms 2 and 3 at Passavant. Fee is $16.95 and includes a training manual.
The 8-hour training gives adults who work with you the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to adolescents, ages 12–18, who may be developing a mental health or substance abuse problem and connect them to the appropriate care. The class is ideal for parents, caregivers, teachers and health and human service workers.
The four hospitals of Memorial Health System and Memorial Behavioral Health sponsor Mental Health First Aid for communities in central Illinois.
