Taylorville Memorial Hospital Offering Free Mammograms for Qualified Individuals in October

10/7/2019

Taylorville Memorial Hospital will be offering free mammograms for qualified individuals during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Free mammogram screenings will be available to women over 40 who are either uninsured or underinsured.  The program, titled “Mammogram Mondays”, is sponsored by the Regional Cancer Partnership of Illinois, with funding provided by the Memorial affiliate of Susan G. Komen.  The TMH Foundation’s CUPS fund will provide additional funding to ensure those who wish to participate are able.

“We are excited to participate in ‘Mammogram Mondays’ again this year and we are extending it to Monday through Friday, in hopes that we can accommodate patients’ schedules,” said TMH mammography coordinator Mary Jo Coady.  “Early detection is key and we want to provide these screenings to everyone who qualifies in hopes of improving breast cancer outcomes.”

Women who are interested in participating should call the TMH Radiology department at 824-1865 to schedule their appointment. Insurance or medical cards will be billed first and the CUPS fund will cover the remainder, if applicable.

Taylorville Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located at 201 E. Pleasant Street in Taylorville and is an affiliate of Memorial Health System. For more information about TMH, visit TaylorvilleMemorial.org.
