LCDPH and ALMH COVID-19 Status Joint Release - April 24, 2020

This is a daily joint communication from the Logan County Department of Public Health and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital updating you on the status of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Logan County. This communication will come daily Monday – Friday and during the weekend as necessary.

One confirmed positive case from Mason County is currently hospitalized at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A person under investigation (PUI) is an ALMH inpatient who has been tested and is awaiting the results of their COVID-19 test. ALMH outpatient patients and hospital inpatients who have been discharged or transferred to another healthcare facility are not included in these numbers.

The discrepancy between the number of inpatients at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in the table above and the LCDPH table below is because ALMH may be caring for patients from outside of Logan County.

A recovered individual is someone who has tracked their symptoms twice daily and reported that they have been symptom-free for 72 hours to the Logan County Department of Public Health. The total number of positives on the Logan County dashboard represents a historical running total of confirmed positive cases. Recovered individuals are never removed from the total number of positives.

REMINDER - HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO INCREASE SERVICES AND EXPAND HOURS

Beginning Wednesday, April 29th, the Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) will be expanding services to include all immunizations, lead testing, hemoglobin testing and TB testing. These services will be offered between 10am and 3pm on Wednesday and Thursday during the week of April 27th. During the week of May 4th these services will be available between 10am and 3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. To promote social distancing, all services will be provided by appointment only.

LCDPH is expanding services and hours to accommodate people in need of these essential services. This does not imply that the COVID-19 pandemic is past its apex as the average number of new cases statewide is still at a peak level. Since mid-April, Illinois is averaging around 1,500 new cases daily and the Illinois Department of Public Health is currently reporting 36,934 positive COVID-19 cases and 1,688 deaths.

To assure the safety of clients and LCDPH employees, the department will be taking additional measures. Anyone with a cough, fever or respiratory symptoms will not be allowed in the building. In addition, only the parent/guardian and child will be allowed entrance. Upon making your appointment, you will be advised of further instructions to promote safety measures.
